Make a Free Kitchen Air Freshener with Fruit Peels/Cores [Kitchen Hacks]

Make a Free Kitchen Air Freshener with Fruit Peels/CoresReal Estate agents often bake a log of cookie dough to make houses smell great when they're trying to sell. Take advantage of your oven and make great your kitchen smell wonderful by baking apple cores, banana peels, or other fruit discards at a low temperature.

Green living weblog Re-Nest suggests mixing one ground spice with your fruit to make the house smell like a fresh pie. You'll need something to hold your fruit peels that is safe to heat; fold aluminum foil or wax paper into a basic container as shown in the photo above. Add your fruit discards and sprinkle with a pinch of a spice. Then spray the fruit and spice with an oil spray to keep it from burning. Put that in your oven at 200-degrees Fahrenheit for however long you wish.

The fruit scent will stick around for nearly two hours after you turn the oven off and you really don't want to open the oven door before those two hours have gone by or you will risk getting smoke in your kitchen.
