With incurable gonorrhea now on North American shores, according to CBS News, and more than 1.4 million reported cases of chlamydia in 2011 alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control, the search for a good orgy can easily end in frustration these days.
Thankfully, the University of Toronto?s Sexual Education Centre is here to help. On Monday, the volunteer-run student group will host an ?epic student sex club adventure? at Oasis Aqua Lounge to kick off its annual Sexual Awareness Week, reports the Toronto Star.
?U of T is holding an orgy, and you?re invited! You just need your student ID,? one Reddit user posted in a University of Waterloo forum.
In an update to the same post, the same Reddit user added that the word orgy was used ?loosely and somewhat jokingly.? Nevertheless, ?it is an event where people can get naked and have sex non-privately.?
The University of Toronto is the 19th-best university in the world, according to the annual world university rankings published by the British magazine Times Higher Education.
Oasis Aqua Lounge is ?a water themed adult?s playground? in downtown Toronto. Guests can have sex anywhere they want, except the hot tub. Presumably, that?s beyond the bounds of good taste.
Plush towels, locker use and condoms ? along with lube packets and sanitizing wipes ? are included in the club?s basic admission plan. There?s a heated pool, a steam room and a sauna. There?s also a prop that looks like the back end of a van parked in miniature field of synthetic grass. And a stripper pole.
Swingers are welcome, and so are single women. Single men will be turned away, however, except on Wednesday nights.
While admission to the club is normally $80 per couple, the University of Toronto?s Sexual Education Centre has rented all four stories out for Monday night and reduced the admission price to a mere $5 per person. Single men will be allowed at?the U of T event, and all students can bring one guest each.
The event has generated quite a bit of publicity, the Star notes, and organizers are hoping for a?sizable?turnout.
Organizers are asking students not to disrobe until 7 p.m., says the Star. After that bewitching hour, the party ?becomes clothing-optional so you can get naked with all your new friends.?
A spokesperson for the Sexual Education Centre was adamant that students shouldn?t expect a sexual free-for-all.
?Our executive director made it very clear that this is not an orgy, we?re not funding an orgy,? said 22-year-old Dylan Tower. ?People are allowed to have sex on premise?there is not any type of ?You should be having sex when you?re here.? It?s very much, come and enjoy the space. There?s no prodding or pushing in that direction.?
The Sexual Education Centre is affiliated with the University of Toronto Students Union and students pay 25 cents per term for its services unless they opt out.
The Centre?s stated mission is to encourage a sex-positive attitude on campus. To that end, it offers workshops and peer counseling, as well as a large selection of free condoms, including studded and mint-flavored condoms.
